White Tara Statue and
Miniature Figurine
White Tara, a female deity of the Buddhist
pantheon, was born from a tear of the boddhisattva of compassion, Avalokitesvara.
She is regarded as his consort. She is usually portrayed seated, dressed and
crowned in the precious ornaments of a boddhisattva.White Tara has seven eyes,
with the extra eyes on her forehead, the palms of her hands and soles of her
feet. She has a lotus flower at her shoulder and is seated in full vajra
posture. Her right hand is in boon-conferring posture, her left hand in teaching
gesture holding the stem of the lotus. She is very beautiful.
The practice of White Tara is to heal and prolong life. Anyone can appeal to
Tara, as she helps all cross "the ocean of samsara."
Materials: The image for this White Tara statue figure was sculpted and
touched-up in a larger size, then miniaturized. Mission Studios figures are
individually cast by hand, each one antiqued and polished to highlight its
details. The ivory substitute is a proprietary casting material that is warm to
the touch and very durable. Try adding a drop of aromatic oil on the porous
backs!
