Brassempouy
Goddess Desktop Bust
Originally carged of ivory, the
Brassempouy Lady dates back to Gravettian, 23000 B.C. Discovered in 1894 by
Edouard Piette and Joseph de Laporterie in the Grotte du Pape, Brassempouy, it
is the location that lends this lady her name.
Known as “The Lady with the Hood” or “The Lady of Brassempouy”, this is
a well-known example of Paleolithic art that will be a quality museum replica on
any desk or altar. Classic reproduction on a small marble base, this replica is
well made. It conveys a realistic and lively image of Paleolithic art, and is
now located in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, France, in the Musee des Antiquites
Nationales.
