Mary Magdalene Bust
Larger and Miniature

Mary Magdalene is depicted here as a bust type statue with curling hair cascading down her bosom. A serene image that's very meditative.

There is confusion in the Christian literature over her true identity and significance, but there seems to be consensus that the historical "Mary of Magdala" was a devoted disciple of Jesus.

Present at the Crucifixion and a witness to his resurrection, she is sometimes considered to be the same Mary as Mary of Bethany, a female "sinner," and a symbol of repentance.

Some scholars have suggested Mary Magdalen was a leader in the early Church. Other modern writers have proposed that Mary was the wife of Jesus, possibly traveling with him to Kashmir where they preached and raised a family.

Materials: The image for this Mary Magdalene statue figure was sculpted and touched-up in a larger size, then miniaturized. Mission Studios figures are individually cast by hand, each one antiqued and polished to highlight its details. The ivory substitute is a proprietary casting material that is warm to the touch and very durable. Try adding a drop of aromatic oil on the porous backs!
