#SS-KYAN

Flat black resin and Ganges Clay mixture, painted and hand finished. Detailed image that's subtle in Her fierceness due to the uniform black color.  This image comes from the Dakinshawar Kali Temple, a place of pilgrimage where enlightenment has been found by at least one well-known Spiritual Master in Calcutta, India.

Goddess-Loving Man: Ramakrishna

*Dakshineswar Kali Temple is is famous for its association with Ramkrishna, who achieved spiritual vision here. An internationally known place of pilgrimage, Rama Krishna Paramahamsa achieved his spiritual vision, preaching the unity of all religions from this temple.

Ramakrishna served as temple's head priest. From the first days of his service in the shrine of the Goddess Kali, he was filled with a rare form of love for the Goddess known in Hinduism as maha-bhava. Worshiping in front of the statue of Kali, Ramakrishna would be overcome with such ecstatic love for the deity that he would fall to the ground, immersed in spiritual trance, losing all consciousness of the physical world.

Ramakrishna fully realized the infinite and all-inclusive nature of the divine.

Built by Rani Rashmoni in 1847, the Temple is situated alongside the Vivekananda Bridge north of Calcutta, about 20 km. from BBD Bagh.

The 12- spired temple hosts an enormous courtyard surrounded by 12 other temples dedicated to Lord Shiva.
