Symbolism
of the Wheel of Fortune Tarot:
Turning Point,
Opportunities, Possibilities
In
the midst of sky and clouds is the disk of Tarot with the letters of the Divine
Name placed between. The disk is in movement signifying constant change and
transformation. The sphinx atop the wheel holds the sword of discernment and
represents balance in the midst of unending fluidity.
The
Wheel of Fortune shows a wheel floating in the sky inscribed with the letters
TARO and alchemical symbols representing the elements underlying the four suits
of the tarot, Fire (Wands), Water (Cups), Earth (Discs) and Air (Swords). This
recalls the emblems of the four suits of the tarot actually laying on the table
of The Magician. Changes in station. Rich become poor, poor become rich. Sudden
reversal of fortune. Strong Buddhist associations with the Karmic cycle.
Winged creatures
are in the four corners of the card, a man, an eagle, a bull, and a lion, each
with an open book. Depending on the tradition, they represent the four seasons,
the four gospels, the four fixed signs of the zodiac, and the four angels of the
apocalypse.

Symbolism
of Death Tarot:
Conclusion, Transition, Finishing up, Regeneration, Elimination of Old Patterns
The
mysterious rider carries no weapon. Rather, he holds in his hand the banner of
life, the mystic rose. At his feet lies the dead king while other human figures
are shown dying. Behind and beyond the sun rises between the two pillars of
duality signifying eternal life. This pendant signifies fundamental change,
transformation and the triumph of the spirit.

Symbolism
of the Temperance Tarot:
Temperance, Harmony, Balance,
Health
An angel of
light, with the sign of the sun on his forehead, stands with one foot on earth
and one in water, pouring water between two cups. The waters are the waters of
life. The angel's work is the balancing and harmonizing of the elements. The
Iris blossoms and the rising sun-crown symbolize the enlightenment toward which
winds the path of the spirit. In addition to its literal meaning of temperance
or moderation, the Temperance pendant is often interpreted as symbolizing
the blending or synthesis of opposites.

Symbolism
of The Devil Tarot:
Power, Ambition,Temptation,
Addiction
A
goat-headed, batwinged figue with an inverted pentacle atop his forehead strides
outward, one hand raised in blessing, the other lowered and holding and inverted
torch. Chained to the pedistal on which he sits are a male and female couple
with the animal features of horns and tails. The chains are those of material
life. The horns and tail of the couple represent man's animal nature. The card
signifies extraordinary energy bound by dualism and materialism. This card is
the opposite of The Lovers.

Symbolism
of The Star Tarot:
Clarity of Vision and Spiritual
Insight
The Star is a
card that looks to the future. It predict hope, healing, and unexpected
help enroute, with a guiding light to the future. The Star is one of those cards
everyone loves. Usually the most beautiful card in a tarot deck, it
suggests the peace and harmony of its meaning. There is nothing negative about
this card, but whatever hope and healing future it offers, it might not be
immediate. This is a soft card whose vision is for tomorrow. It is
a pendant that predicts unexpected help as a first step on the road toward
healing.
The Star stands for Truth. Truth as a naked woman,
eternally young and beautiful, pours forth the waters of spiritual blessing and
healing upon the flowering earth. All is illumined by the great eight pointed
star and the seven lesser stars symbolizing the divine radiance of
enlightenment. The bird in the background sings the song of happiness in divine
union.
