cultural Goddesses of different traditions: Atargatis,
Aztec, Gaia, Inanna, Isis, Kwan Yin, Lakshmi, Native Princess, Tara.

temple at Hierapolis, She was a protector of community . The water surrounding

that surrounds the developing fetus. -more-
Mayan
Phoenix Goddess: Inspired by the Aztec Moon Goddess, our artist says this is
the grandmother of wisdom and knowledge. This Goddess holds sacred symbols of
the Aztec world and is adorned with decorative Phoenix headdress signifying a
phoenix rising from the ashes of adversity. She dances among the symbols,
calling in the heavens.
Gaia:
Greek. The Mother Goddess who cares for the earth, and gives birth to all
who reside there. This graceful mother Goddess gently cradles the Earth in her
arms, energy field, and heart.
Every curve of her pose reveals her loving concern for all life.
Inanna: The flowering of Sumeria, its temples, ordered
cities, irrigated fields, birthplace of cuneiform writing and codes of law, and
mastery of terra-cotta arts, all offer tribute to the first Great Goddess named
by history. Bejeweled and serene, her chalice-shaped form was worshipped as
early as 7000 BCE. Inanna represents love, marriage, sensuality, and fertility,
but she also counts all gender-benders and prostitutes her own.
Isis:
Egyptian Goddess who wrapped you up like a nurturing mother in her feathers
and made the wind with her wings. Her she is in her classic kneeling pose,
showing off her wing span.
Kwan
Yin: Buddhist Goddess of compassion, her name means "She who hears the
suffering of the world". One of the most beloved of the Tibetan Buddhist
deities, she relieves suffering, heals and protects those in need.
Lakshmi:
Lakshmi, or Sri, is the Hindu Goddess of love and beauty and the Indian
equivalent of Aphrodite, for she was born on a lotus from the churning of the
milky sea when her consort Vishnu manifested as a tortoise avatar. She has
strong associations with the fall festival of Divali.
Native
Princess: This Native Butterfly Princess shows the respect Native Americans
have always had for nature and wild life. This Princess is so trusted by the
wild one, butterflies come and land on her. Adorned with colorful clothing, she
is serene in her power.
Tara:
Tibetan Buddhism numbers 21 Taras, often featuring seven all-seeing eyes of
compassion. White Tara, the mild form of the goddess, promises health, long life
and prosperity. Green Tara promotes growth, solves practical problems and
protects our everyday world. She is particularly associated with conservation
and protection of the planet, often resonnating with gardening women or those
that find solace in the natural world. She is incarnate in all good women,
crowned and adorned with flora and fauna of earth's harvest.
